Otoplasty Procedures
Otoplasty, or cosmetic surgery of the ear, is a common procedure performed to correct asymmetric or protruding ears. Occasionally, children may develop only one protruding ear or a floppy ear. The corrective procedure can be performed as early as patients turn four to six years of age. Although adults can also undergo the otoplasty operation to correct protruding ears or big ears.
Because there is little room for error in ear pinning surgery, Dr. Numa takes on both a careful preoperative analysis and a surgical execution with a fastidious degree of attention to detail in order to achieve a successful outcome.
The goal in otoplasty surgery is to remain focused on improving the symmetry between both ears by restoring the soft, normally-occurring folds of the ears as well as restoring a normal level of protrusion from the side of the head, especially when seen from the frontal view.
During your preliminary consultation, Dr. Numa will learn about your aesthetic concerns, review the unique characteristics of your face, and then you’ll decide jointly which aesthetic goals should and can be realistically accomplished.
