Otoplasty Procedure

Otoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s age and the complexity of the case. The surgery generally begins with incisions made behind the ear, where any resulting scars remain well concealed. In some cases, incisions may be placed within the natural folds of the ear. The cartilage is then reshaped and repositioned, and sutures are used to hold it in its new form. Any excess skin or cartilage may be removed before the incisions are carefully closed.
