Submental fullness, also known as “double chin,” is a common facial aesthetic concern. It can affect a range of patients and can be caused by genetics, weight gain, aging or often a combination of factors. Sometimes, even with diet and exercise, submental fullness may not go away, and it could make patients look older or heavier than they actually are.
KYBELLA® injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin. KYBELLA® treatments result in the destruction of fat cells. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they can no longer accumulate fat that causes submental fullness (double chin).
KYBELLA® is an in-office treatment that can be a viable option for patients who prefer to try an alternative to surgery. Post treatment, most patients will experience some bruising and swelling in the treated area. A series of four to six treatments of KYBELLA® is recommended for optimal results.
